Bitshift Audio is giving away 40mb of free Apple loops for use in iLife GarageBand or Apple Soundtrack.

According to Bitshift’s site, “Our resident beat programmer, Art Gillespie (aka bitshift), is so excited about GarageBand and the new Apple Loops file format that he put together this collection of free electro/breakbeat drum and synth loops from his forthcoming Apple Loops CD ‘bitshift’s bangin’ beats’ for everyone to download for free.”

These can be added to GarageBand, by dragging the loops to a ‘Real Instrument’ track. Thanks to the Apple Loops file format, the loops will always fit in perfectly with your song’s tempo and key. Users of other audio software packages can enjoy the loops, too, as Apple Loops work in any application that supports AIFF files.

Download the files for free at Bitshift Audio’s site. It requires registering with a valid email address. Once you’ve done this, the site will send you an email with a link to the downloads.

Just started messing around with Garageband not too long ago, nice to have some free loops so I don’t have to keep using the stupid ones that come with the program!
