Line 6 and Propellerhead Software have announced the signing of an exclusive U.S. distribution agreement. Line 6 will distribute all Propellerhead Software products within the United States. Line 6 will handle all U.S. marketing and customer support, and will supply product to all music software dealers and online retailers.

“We are extremely satisfied to have Line 6 as our new partner, a company that shares a lot of our core values and understands our future goals,” said Ernst Nathorst-Böös, Chief Executive Officer, Propellerhead Software.

“Propellerhead has played a major role in the shift from hardware to state-of-the-art software synthesis, while Line 6 has revolutionized the guitar and computer music industries as the leader in modeling amplifiers, guitars, POD, and GuitarPort products,” explained Mike Muench, Chief Executive Officer, Line 6. “Both companies have greatly impacted the way musicians create music.”

The new agreement includes distribution of the highly anticipated debut of Reason 3.0, scheduled for release early this year. Reason is an enormously successful software title for both Windows and Mac OS platforms that emulates a rack of electronic synthesizers, samplers, drum machines and mixing equipment. Reason has been awarded Editor’s Choice Awards from Electronic Musician, MacWorld, Remix, Computer Music magazines, cnet.com, the mipa award for Best Software Instrument and the highly coveted TEC award.

      something to think about

When Mozart was composing at the end of the eighteenth century, the city of Vienna was so quiet that fire alarms could be given verbally, by a shouting watchman mounted on top of St. Stefan’s Cathedral. In twentieth-century society, the noise level is such that it keeps knocking our bodies out of tune and out of their natural rhythms. This ever-increasing assault of sound upon our ears, minds, and bodies adds to the stress load of civilized beings trying to live in a highly complex environment. — Stephen Halpern
