A new sample CD by Mig Music, Virtual Wavestation, which contains 508 Korg Wavestation samples, has been pulled from the market over copyright concerns.
The Mig site has been updated with this message:
“The Virtual Wavestation Sample CD Rom has been temporarily suspended from sale. We apologize for the inconvenience caused, please check back in a months time.”
According to our contact at Korg, “While the limited use of Korg’s Original Wavestation Performance data is acceptable in the course of general music production, the commercial use of re-sampling every Korg Performance sound in their raw state is an infringement of Korg’s intellectual property rights and we are in discussion with Mig Music.”
Maybe sampling all of Korg’s sounds wasn’t such a great idea after all……
