NAMM Update: Ultimate Sound Bank announces the availability of its latest UVI Soundcard (Vol. 5) Retro Keyboards, a comprehensive collection of studio-quality samples from the most essential keyboard instruments of the ’60s and ’70s. The new Retro Keyboards collection can be used as an expander for PLUGSOUNDPRO, or as stand alone instruments or plug-ins in all the major formats and platforms.

This new title offers three “eras” of classic tine-based electric pianos, a famous electro-acoustic piano, a soulful reed piano, a funky clav and his “little brother” and more. The finest examples of each keyboard were found, and meticulously multi-sampled using up to 12 velocity levels to deliver the ultimate in realistic player expression. Top of the line recording equipment and techniques were used to capture the unique timbre of each instrument with superb clarity and imaging. Each group of individual instrument sounds is further organized into “families” of presets exemplifying the essential tonal vocabulary associated with these classic keyboards, including Amp simulator, Tremolo and Vinyl emulation, among others.

Retro Keyboards can be used as a stand-alone player, as a plug-in within any DAW/sequencer, or even loaded into MOTU’s MachFive 2. When imported into Ultimate Sound Bank’s PLUGSOUNDPRO virtual instrument, further tweaking of sounds can be done in its sounds design section, allowing the user to add up to four effects per instrument including convolution reverb, analog modeled Chorus/Flanger, studio limiter and high-quality EQs, as well as filters and up to four LFOs per preset. PLUGSOUNDPRO can also import up to 64 Retro Keyboards instruments for creating layers, splits and more.
