Platinum Samples has released its first BFD Expansion Pack featuring multi-platinum award producing recording engineers.

It also is the Biggest F’n Drum sample library we’ve seen, weighing in at 70GB!
The first engineer featured in the series is the legendary Andy Johns, whose classic rock credits include The Rolling Stones’ Exile on Main Street, Goat’s Head Soup, Led Zeppelin’s II, III, IV, Physical Graffiti, and Van Halen’s For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge.

Recorded in one of LA’s greatest rock studios through an all class-A Neve 80 series console and Studer analog tape machine electronics, the Classic Drums collection captures the “Andy Johns” rock drum sound.

To ensure that the drums would fit into a mix, and not to record the drums in a void, the drum sounds were checked with a rhythm section (drums, bass and guitar). The result is an expansion pack where you can load a drum kit and not necessarily need to be an accomplished engineer to have some of the greatest recorded drums available in one of the most sought after drum rooms in the world on your own tracks.

Available on 6 DVD’s, the Platinum Samples expansion pack has 4 installation options to best suit your needs with the 70GB SuperSize installation having as many 250 velocity levels, while the 30GB Small install option has a maximum of 20 velocity levels. The Classic Drums expansion pack includes over 250 MIDI Grooves and Fills and a QuickTime video featuring recording tips by Andy Johns.

Platinum Samples has also posted over 190 additional MIDI Grooves and Fills, and more drum samples on their web site for registered users.Platinum Samples is the first third party company to release an Expansion Pack for FXpansion’s best selling BFD Premium Acoustic Drum Module software. The expansion pack requires that BFD be installed and is both Mac OS X and Windows compatible. BFD supports Digidesign’s RTAS format, as well as the VSTi, DirectX, Audio Units and Rewire technologies.
