AMG Garage Band ExpansionPack Review

AMG GarageBand ExpansionPackAMG’s ExpansionPack for GarageBand is a diverse collection of instruments for GarageBand.

The collection promises 92 brand new instruments for GarageBand, including brass, vintage synths and keyboards and Celtic instruments.

While the collection is promising, it’s let down by the quality of the sampling and sample editing. Some of the samples are very noisy – especially the Mellotron samples. Other samples have clear looping artifacts.

In addition, the virtual instruments in this collection don’t take advantage of modulation options, like the virtual instruments that are available in Apple’s own GarageBand Jam Packs.

While AMG’s ExpansionPack for GarageBand is fairly inexpensive at $49.95, its value is let down substantially by the quality of sample editing and the limited expression options for its virtual instruments.

      something to think about

In Seattle, all the public toilets didn’t have any doors on them. It was well strange. What’s that all about? I had to take a shit, and they’re was like twenty people in a row going for a shit, and I was like, “uh.” So after about ten minutes, I thought it was quite wicked actually. I was quite into the idea of it. — Richard D. James
