      1. Wikkid I am a big fan! I liked the music u made on the app I <3 music! That was years ago and I’m trying to find a replacement lol

    1. Well actually, the SPC700 chip utilized in SNES audio processing is an 8 bit chip. The DSP that generates the sound, however, is 16 bits. So I guess both things are correct.

  1. MPC is pretty cool, but the 5 note-per-beat limit sorta stinks…

I’m trying to make a song called Broken Wings from Trinity Blood by using the sheet music…. the

  2. If you think the five-note limit is onerous, you should see the original SNES game – three notes per beat, one octave, no accidentals.

Also, if any other Linux users find their way here, there’s no native Linux version of MPC (yet?), but at least the Windows one seems to work fine in Wine.

  3. 8 bit refers to the bit depth which determined es the range of frequencies sampled from the audio. There are many ways to reduce bit depth. Most digital audio software has many ways of reducing bit depth. Any audio file can have its bit depth reduced with the right program. Basically Mario paint is a digital audio program with a very user friendly interface and a very limited library of audio samples. Changing to a more advanced program will give you more options in sounds but will make it much more complicated to arrange songs.
