What People Are Talking About This Week At Synthtopia

Here are some of the posts that have been generating some interesting discussion this week.

If you haven’t weighed in on them yet, check out what others are saying and then add your two cents worth!

  • Minneapolis Hates Kraftwerk – the Minneapolis Star Tribune says that Kraftwerk‘s show there was a snoozer – “With all the flair of a power-point presentation at a mortgage-foreclosure seminar!” Electronica fans at the show have different opinions.
  • Radiohead Wants You To Pay To Get Nude – I complained about Radiohead charging $5 to let you remix their tracks, when NIN and others bend over backwards to get you to remix their work. A lot of people paid the $5, though, had fun and want you to check out their remixes. What do you think?
  • I thought that the Roland C-30 Digital Harpsichord was stupidtacular – synth technology is so cheap and so advanced that it’s becoming less relevant than pretty packaging. A couple of readers took me to task and offered perspectives worth considering: “In a product designed for music, you would think that sound and playability are paramount, but as Apple has demonstrated with the iPod, looks can be more important than sound and convenience.”
  • Our review of Nine Inch Nail’s Ghosts I-IV continues to generate discussion. I thought Ghosts I-IV is less important as a collection of music than as an event. Others loved the release, saying things like “It expanded my mind.”

Thanks to everybody for your comments – they add a lot to the stories.

Keep the comments coming and check out what others are saying, too!

  1. “With all the flair of a power-point presentation at a mortgage-foreclosure seminar”

    What a great quote 😀

(Altough I love Kraftwerk, I’m aware that their concerts must be really weird for the non-initiated!!!)
