Since all 80’s culture has suddenly become ‘relevant’ again, then it is
also relevant to give praise to the ultimate underground diva.
Nightclubbing is one of the greatest albums of all time, and must be
recognized. Besides, Grace is a REAL diva in a world of fakes, and
having her on ‘the scene’ may help erase the imposters (Lily Allen,
I’m looking at you!) Go Grace Go! (and expect a Dead Panda dub of
some Grace, I’ll post natch…)

Umm to all of you who don’t get it; Grace Jones is the end all be all. I have her albums on cd and vinyl. In fact now is a perfect time for her to put out another project. Like her time in the 70’s and 80’s, there is a huge underground fan base growing, especially among black artists and “blipsters”. She is very relevant because of the futurism in her music and image. And no she won’t die, black doesn’t crack, darlings.

Frankly I don’t know why people continue to diss miss Jones. She is a legend, and miles ahead of what most pop artists are doing, and that is just her work from the 80’s…perhaps it is because she is a strong black female who doesn’t give a shit what small minded people think…

If she was just more docile and lighter like Halle Berry then maybe you would find her acceptable…and by the way, ‘Slave to the Rhythm’ is simply one of the best dance records ever made.

grfx303, you should clean up your ears and listen to “Nightclubbing”. Maybe you weren’t born then, but you should know that that album defined a whole new genre of music, the turning moment when dub and US dance music fused. 25 years later, it hasn’t aged one bit. Plus, Grace Jones has a real, true, sincere PERSONALITY, something that can’t be said about today’s heirs to what she and Sly and Robbie started. Oh, and if you wake up, listen to “Fame” as well. And I’m not even gay.

Maybe Jones just isn’t dead yet, and still thinks that she can be relevant.

You may not like her work, but there’s a lot of dance music fans (especially gay men) that would disagree.

Also - I really like this video - it takes a simple effect that’s available in iMovie and exploits it really effectively.

Really have no discernible clue as to why Grace Jones would put out another project. Did she need the money? Did she have some divine inspiration? Is it an ego-related issue that she needs fulfillment on some level? I can’t get any sort of ‘yeah!’ going here, just questions.

What does she think she is bringing to an audience? What is there that needs to be said via Eno? Seems like an instance of pushing the river here.
Hard to figure.
