SaxLab In Action
We ran an item earlier today about LinPlug SaxLab 2, and already the sax jokes are coming in.
Virtual instruments definitely have their place, though, and this demo by Geoff Levin, Lin’s Theme, gives you a taste of what SaxLab can do.
“I have been impressed with Linplug synths and their sample based plug-ins for years,” says Levin. “I love sax, but I am not a wind person. But, with a little help from Linplug, I was able to express myself with sax’s. This was a fun piece to write. Hope you enjoy it.”
You’re going to be hearing this on a lot of soundtracks and will probably never know.

Wow, that was awful, and so clearly not a real sax. It was just a small step above a sampled sax.

I will know. We will all know.

I have to disagree with you on this - put it in a mix and use it in soundtrack for a TV show and most people will be none the wiser.
I’m not a big fan of virtual instruments, especially for wind and brass, but they are getting way better than yesterday’s straight sampled instruments.
