MTV Music doesn’t do it for me.

The entire site is shovelware pablum. It’s a leach sucking life from the already tarnished MTV brand.

Haven’t these guys ever heard of the long tail. Or of YouTube?

Try finding videos by Autechre, Buuren, BT, Brian Eno, Jean Michel Jarre, Thievery Corporation, Orb, Sasha, Digweed, Kompressor, Lords of Acid, Future Sound Of London, Vangelis, Ian Van Dahl….you get the idea.

Somebody said to put all those old MTV videos online, and that’s what they did.

The sad thing is that a lot of people will go to the site because it’s getting so much hype.

It does seem a little bit redudant. Especially in some cases you can plonk “&fmt=18″ at the end of youtube URLs and get higher quality video (only works in some cases, depends how much youtube throttle compression on each individual video).

I wonder if the comments will be any more retarded than those on youtube? :)

They block Canadians from viewing, so I have no comments on the quality of the videos.
I can only speculate why its better than YouTube
    -Less compressed video
    -Stereo sound
    -No additional audio compression
-no fan created videos with anime

are bands going to get royalties for plays like they did on MTV 20 years ago when they played videos on TV?

I’ve stopped watching MTV since the late 90s. It was getting on my nerves with all the garbage it was playing, the repeating boring top10 playlists and the ever growing support for luxurious r’n'b, soul and newskool hiphop. Extended commercialism has ruined the company…
