yeah i got lots of trouble understanding what the big deal is? their genius comes from what they do with those samples, not the samples themselves

50 cent samples more shit than justice and i guarantee hes not clearing all those small samples the ho could get from old 70s funk songs that no one remembers.. but its all good cuz theres so much music now that it really doesnt matter what your music sounds like cuz most likely theres a second of your song that matches some other second.. but not the whole song and what it means..

Ya, there’s always the risk, but in theory that should be fine.

From what I understand, the spirit of the copyright laws is that you can’t sample anything that is clearly important to the original work.

So, if they sampled 50 cent saying “Go Go Go Go Shorty” from In Da Club, they’d probably have to get that cleared, since it’s such a fundamental sound byte to the original song.

If they sampled a Brian May power chord from a Queen album, maybe that chord/sound by itself isn’t vital to the original work – no worries there.
