Ever wonder why people pay a premium price for the Monome, a controller that doesn’t really do much out of the box?
The promo video explains it. It’s for mlrV a new version of an open source app called mlr. Trent Gill took Brian Crabtree’s work on mlr and did a bit of software remixing, building on Crabtree’s work.
People buying the Monome aren’t just getting a new controller – they are buying into an open music software culture.
