  1. I think Barber would have been far happier if Tiesto had used more than the first 16 bars of the original composition 😉

  2. This video makes this remix sound even more ridiculous than it did before. Big fan of the original by Samuel Barber, but I will just never understand this whole DJ idol worship stuff.

  3. Back when I really was into Tiesto I still hated this song. The rhythm just feels retarded and it feels like he’s trying to cram a techno beat onto something more complex without knowing what he’s doing.

  4. Tiesto is the Yanni of dance music.

Contrast and compare this video with any of those videos of ‘praise’ music in evangelical churches. Spooky huh? There’s also more than a hint of a Nazi Night Rally in this video as well.

  5. Kent – but it’s a night rally where everybody is doing something positive and ecstatic – very different than Nazis!

  6. Am I the only one who liked the remix of adagio for strings better when it was in the form of “Another Day” by Skip Raiders (feat. Jada)?

Tiesto butchered the rhythm of this piece in his remix, I personally can’t stand it.

    Also.. platoon. Hello. lol

  7. As a DJ, I always used to get requests for “TIESTO” (this is how some of the ”crowd” calls mainstream trance), and as I am not a big fan of tiesto (understatement of course) I used to regularly drop Another Day by the skip raiders instead, and everyone used to come to me and compliment on the sick find of tiesto remix.
    seriously.

Besides, ever since it was put into the Kevin And Perry soundtrack (which is my favorite of all time for electronic dance music soundtracks, alongside with traffic) it even became more emotional for me.

“Let’s get out of here… This place is full of losers” (Kevin & Perry Go Large (2000)
    Director: Ed Bye)

  8. My deep emotional attachment to that track stems from a double cassette I picked up EARLY on in my raver days of Oakenfold playing at Space in Ibiza in 1999 (Essential mix 06-25-99). Every single track on there brings back some memories!

I’ll have to check out that movie and soundtrack, too.

As a note, I’m not a huge tiesto fan, but not *everything* he’s put out has been crap; he remixed Hide and Seek by Imogen Heap into one hell of a gorgeous track, and I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for the *original* mix of Just Be (I was never too fond of the A&B remix).

  9. Jesus christ this guy is in the super big time eh, I remember seeing him in shitty clubs in DC & SF. I stopped listening to his mixes after a while but his earlier stuff, esp. the Magik and such, had great selections on them. He just got boring over time though.

The chord progressions in this song are still very strong regardless of how it gets remixed. I like the dirty lead instrument but I think the chords sounded better/prettier in the original Orbit version.
