In this demo video, from KeyfaxNewMedia’s Drum Programming Secrets DVD, Dave Polich shows you how to play drum beats on your keyboard in the style of Keith Moon.

As far as I know, Keith Moon never did any drum programming – but, Polich’s take on it is still pretty impressive to see.

Nice! See how cool it can be without resorting to loops? I love smacking beats on the keys, then bust out the synth bass right after.
I personally like to mimic Zep beats (thaz right!) but this video is cool.
Now let’s all go smash up a hotel room Keith Moon style.

I was actually expecting this demo to be lame, but I was impressed by the way Polich knocks it out.

      something to think about

My guitar only has five strings ’cause the top one broke and I decided not to put it back on: when I play chords I only play bar chords, and the top one always used to cut me there. — Brian Eno
