IKEA DJ Console Hack
13Feb09

IKEA Hacker has a post on Pim Hansen, who built his own DJ console from scratch, with the help of a few choice Ikea pieces.
Not as cool as some of the custom DJ consoles we’ve seen – but hard times call for desperate measures, eh?

The speakers are placed too close and low to the performer…
The lamp that he shows on the site are a nice touch of atmosphere. I had a couple green frosted lamps from Ikea that I had on either side of the speaker shelves. Makes the place look professional, even if I didn’t.

Funny to see your own product pop up somewhere online.
I still use the pictured booth as record storage, I’d advise anyone who has building plans to look at the Ikea Expedit first (which I didn’t at first), because it’s easy to et up and relatively inexpensive.
My dj stuff is currently set up at a mates apartment like this:

@ Alex; Actually the dj should nestanding in the center (’sweet spot’) of the stereo image.. So your remark is invalid.
@sSean; Thnx
