Trouble is that, at first glance, S1 looks more like 'Magix Music Maker' or Acoustica's Mixcraft. i.e a 'simple, cheap, "much about" DAW rather than a serious competitor to Cubase, Protools, Logic pro etc.

But have a go at the demo, it soon becomes clear just how powerful it is!!

i think DEMO it has the lack of not be able to RENDER audio, if someone realy want to check the power of any DAW it needs to first see how it sounds after Rendering, Studio One Developers claim that one of the High Points in This DAW is High Ending mode, and the fact you can master the tracks in same project you built them, but if someone realy want to check that ability it would need to try first...

i will never buy this software for that price without being sure if its realy good, i havent notice while using demo, the 64 bit processing diference, (i dont see a cpu meter around also!) but if i open windows cpu statistics, it seem to be similar to other 32 bit hosts... but i am not expert in this kind of issues

i´m was a realy dissapointed for not be able to render at least 30 seconds of audio
at least they put some limitations of time and water marks in demo rendering, but without it check it, i will not buy it for sure.

Well, I would love to test Presonus Studio One, as it looks like wiping away the biggers like Pro Tools, Cubase, Ableton & what not.I am presently using Cubase, recommended by Hans Sir, with Wavelab, mostly to Edit, as it does good.I am an Upcoming Classical/Hollywood Compose.

Cubase have totally and utterly taken the fucking piss out of everyone since Logic went MAC exclusive back in 2002.

Cubase 5 is £500? FIVE HUNDRED POUNDS? WHAT A JOKE. Seriously what a joke. Ive stayed using Logic 5.5 till now but this will make me switch for definate.

I will never buy a mac all the time I have a hole in my ass. I would however use there operating system if it was released for pc and at that point maybe use logic again however I will never buy there overpriced underpowered hardware.

What presonus should be doing is giving you this FREE when you buy an interface worth "x" amount, the future of alot of software companys long term is not good, money is in hardware not software and what better reason to buy a Firestudio or something of that nature than getting a great DAW free. If not free then VERY discounted, I own two Firestudios and two MSR remotes, It would be cool if I was to give them the hardware code of my interface and get a copy or discount off of STUDIO ONE as a gesture of good will

"Looks nice - but do we need another Logic/Protools?

Seems like it would be very hard to get any traction competing against the established DAWs."

as for me, I need 'another' Logic...running on Win ;)

The only commercial traction against established DAWs will be in the form of bundling with their audio interfaces. On its own, a really tough sell, but bundled it potentially short circuits a buyers desire to buy a separate DAW when they get a PreSonus interface.

It's the Microsoft philosophy... if we bundle enough stuff in our primary offering, we cut out the potential for other people to sell add-on apps for our stuff.

It looks like the baby of Pro Tools and Logic Pro. It takes after Logic a bit more than PT.
