Schmolli has a gift for adding extra bits from other songs and dialog samples to spice up his mashups. These are two timeless riffs married at last! Love it.
Yeah – most mashups fail because they're jokes and the original material doesn't gel through the song; this works well as a remix.
They do work great together. Maybe it's because Blue Monday's drum machine beat is so memorable, and Innagaddadavida's guitar riff is so memorable.
