In this video, violinist Jon Rose controls ring modulation with the K-Bow, a Bluetooth enabled sensor bow for string instruments, turning Maurice Jarre’s Lara’s Theme, from Dr. Zhivago, into atonal sheets of sound.
The ring modulator rate is controlled by the distance of the frog of the bow to the strings, and held by the bow’s grip pressure sensor.
At STEIM, Amsterdam, 04/2009.
