The Moog Modular Synthesizer Of Max Brand

This video captures some images of an early synth built by Bob Moog for Austrian composer Max Brand (1886-1980).

Moog designed electronic sound equipment for Brand starting in the late 50’s. This modular is believed to be from around 1967-1969.

Please note that this video is intended to show the machine – the included audio track does NOT demonstrate it’s capabilities – most of the audio being heard on this video is not even from this machine!

  1. So just another museum piece anymore. Why wouldn't this guy put some of Brand's music on the video to showcase the music he was composing?

  2. It’s incredible to think about a guy born in 1886 using a Moog. The guy lived to be 94 years old, just think about all that he lived through – the world wars, space travel, atomic weapons, and (last but not least) the entire history of electronic instruments up until 1980.
