I think the reason the trance guys always get all the votes is because their fans are more dedicated and actually go vote for their favourite DJs in the polls. While the rest of us who like techno, tech house, etc. don't actually end up voting for our favourite DJs... we just like the music, but not to the point where we would get all of our friends to go out and vote.. :)

Thanks again!
So far, I'm loving Above & Beyond's Indonesia. It feels like an incredibly luxurious holiday. Bizzarely, I'm reminded of Mantovani & His Orchestra from the fifties and sixties... all be it in an entirely different style, both evoke this sense of 'luxury on the european continent with particular reference to the mediterranean'... :)
As for the other suggestions, I've downloaded a random track from an artist or two in each recommendation and most fascinating to me from this bunch is 'Bazar Inflagranti' by Heinrichs & Hirtenfellner, which has a brilliant percussive atmosphere and a good inspiration for a remix competition I'm attempting to put something together for.
And here was me thinking dance music was largely about pad-wash or a repeated banality wailed by a 'hot babe' over some uninteresting thud!!!!
Experimentation and innovation and sophisticated artistry are alive and well :)

Hey man!
I saw your question and so I have some recommendations for you to get you started on a good track on the Dance Genre. For starters in the field of Trance music:Above&Beyond's-Tri-State album is simply fantastic! Great production. After we have from Armin Van Buuren-A State Of Trance 2005 and Universal Religion 2004.Those are both 2 of Armin's best compilations I think he's put out.Paul Oakenfold-Creamfields, Tranceport,Perfecto presents...Paul Oakenfold Traveling. Some great classic tracks of dance music on there.
His new Oakenfold Anthems is pretty good too as it has lots of good tunes that rocked the dancefloors when Dance was at it's peak!
His new compilation Perfecto Vegas is also very good!
Ferry Corsten's new album Twice In A Blue Moon.Very Good Release. He's always inventive of using new sounds in his music.
For a more vocal aproach and lush melodies there is DJ Shah-Songbook and under his other guise as Sunlounger-Another Day On The Terrace album!
Now for a more underground approach there is The Global Underround Series. All Of them are quite good but classics are Global Underground 013# Ibiza by DJ Sasha
and Global Underground 025 # by Deep Dish.Instant Classics.
For a House music Sound there is always the Hed Kandi series and Fierce Angel with usually the best tunes in Disco House,Latin House and others.
As well as the Azuli presents Series.
And finaly for a harder and faster style from all the above there is Lisa Lashes with her Euphoria Albums, Bk who has lots of cool tracks
on his albums, Ran-D and Adaro and DJ Marta with her DJ Marta Compilations.I recommend from her DJ Marta Voumen 3 and
DJ Marta Voumen 6 Esencia Pura.Great stuff!
Hope this was usefull and pushed you in the right direction!

Gordon : I'd like to recommend You the Orbital - Altogether album, its not so fresh ('2001) but I think its deffiniately Electronic! any every aspect.
And just a bonus if You grove up on Dr.Who, You will find a kick-ass remix :)

Greetings from Hungary,

Attila

Gordon - music discovery is a huge challenge.

You could do a lot worse than to check out everything that BT's ever done, with the possible exception of Emotional Technology.

Who else has suggestions for Gordon?

What I'd like to see is a list of people all youz afficionados actually do like. See, I never go clubbing and I'm clueless about dance music but I'd love to hear some really inventive, cool dance music. Question is, where do I find this information? I'm sure there are tons of sites and magazines out there but without being an afficionado of music I haven't actually heard yet, it would be difficult to work up the enthusiasm for the research. I went into a specialist store awhile ago and asked for recommendations and they suggested Steve Lawler, which is OK but nothing to get me all that excited...

Andres - What is electronic music, then, and who gets decide?

DJs like Tiesto, PvD and Armin Van Buuren have been top DJs for years because they continue to make great electronic dance records and they continue to draw huge crowds internationally.

Were you expecting a list of obscure glitch artists or something?
