According to <a href="http://www.global.yamaha.com/tenori-on/specification/" target="_blank">http://www.global.yamaha.com/tenori-on/specificat...</a> (bottom of page)

To coincide with the unveiling of the new model Yamaha have also confirmed a free forthcoming firmware update for current TENORI-ON customers. Following a range of user comments Yamaha are currently in the process of creating a new operating system which is expected to be available from January 2010.The update will address a number of areas including the synching of TENORI-ON to external DAW applications and offer an improved MIDI sync implementation.

I sure hope they can work the clock problems with the new OS, because for now the clock is broken. I sold mine because of this (and yamaha did tell they wouldn't update the OS). I mean it's a sequencer! the clock must be tight! If it wouldn't have been for that, I would have probably kept it. Now I'm intrigued by this new more affordable model. If they can get the clock right, I might just buy it... It's a bit sad they got the battery option out though.

Kaossilator + Kaoss = £129 x 2 + £100 for the other two things = £358 = $600?

yeah, way too much money. If the thing was built like a tank, with a steel and aluminum casings - then maybe I can see that as a justification. I'll wait until it hits $400 for the white one or until another company produces a similar product (yo Roland or Korg) that's better and cheaper.

To be honest, all Korg has to do is put out a Kaoss Pad 4 with Kaossilator sounds, a kickass sequencer and a 16x16 touch grid.

They should be something in the 399 to 499 price range people are saying.
Still too much if you ask me.

When I tried the $1000 version in person it feel very cheap. The buttons are very plastic and have a hard click feeling. I hate stuff that clicks. I was hoping they would have a more "smooshy" feel.

My GF was very impressed till I told her the price. She had thought it was a toy from the look of it.

Still, I want one. Its just too much fun and a cheaper price would make it tempting.

It would be so great if they annouced the price along with press releases like this... I've been wanting a Tenori-On for a long time but don't think it's worth the $1000 asking price.

If it were half that (and i'm being optimistic that it might be?) i'm totally in.
