  1. Hmm, the sound samples never load on my PC and the site has a REALLY irritating pop-up.

A look at the description and the front panel suggests that this is Art Harrison's great "Cacophonator" circuit with a few minor mods. In which case, your 250 euros are buying a fancy box, some nice knobs, a 40106 and a small number of resistors, pots and capacitors. And maybe a FET or vactrol for the "voltage control". I wonder if Art knows? Just google "Cacophonator". I think mine came in at about £12, but it doesn't look as nice.

Incidentally, Art's page has a link to a great "Cacophonator" track called "LyfeTyme" by an allegedly excellent cult electronic band called "The Mirlitrons".

It is altogether possible that my YouTube tour of the Mirlisonic Studio may expand to discuss the Cacophonator in the near future (i.e. possibly around Sunday).

  3. Good Lord, it seems I was right!

Art Harrison has received an e-mail from the good folks at Kinetic Labs and ending with these immortal words: "We really don't care about copyright laws and things like that but we love to have good relation with people."

    Laugh? I nearly did.

  5. Hi MirlitronOne, we are just joking, we like your hat! Have you any news from Art? We are waiting for a reply to the mail we send him.

  6. We have written another mail to Art to clarify our position. The sentence that you have reported is just a part of our previous e-mail. We don't want to be bold.
We wish to have good relation with people, anyhow. Even with people with sunglasses 🙂

  8. "We wish to have good relation with people, anyhow."

This is a statement which you keep repeating. I would suggest that the best way to achieve this is to consult them before you make use of their published intellectual property, or at least have the common decency to give them credit when you attempt to make money from their ideas. To contact them retrospectively after your actions have been exposed is not a substitute for this.

Anything else is simply plagiarism, which is, at best, legally dubious but definitely morally reprehensible.

The man with the sunglasses will say no more on this matter, as he wishes to have a good relationship with people.

  9. Thanks MirlitronOne for the advices. We will be glad to get in touch with you, if you like, to better understand why the sample player on our page is not working.
We get the answer from Arthur Harrison, giving us the permission to go on. Please check the specs page on the mot-box site.
