Beat Kangz’ Beat Thang Coming In Early 2010 For $999

The Beat Kangz have announced they will be shipping the Beat Thang music production center some time in early 2010.

The Beat Thang was announced at the 2009 Winter NAMM Show and was expected earlier this year. The Beat Kangz, though, have been busy getting out a desktop app and an iPhone app.

The Beat Thang Production System is expected to be available early in 2010 for $999; Beat Thang Virtual is now available for $149.

Features of the Beat Thang Music Production System:

  • Two High Speed SD card slots (up to 32 gigs)
  • USB in and out
  • Pitch & Modulation wheels
  • All metal housing for added durability
  • Lithium ion battery with 6 hours of portable playing time
  • 3.5 inch color video LCD screen
  • Illuminated control panel
  • Integrates seamlessly with Beat Thang Virtual. Anything you edit, record or produce on the Beat Thang can be transferred to Virtual and vice versa.

  1. I gather that their intended competitive edge against the MPC and SP is that this is made by a company consisting of producers, not technology hounds, but does that work? It just seems like this thing has been hyped since forever, but the proof will be in how reliable it is. It's a nice-looking package with an impressive features list, but we'll see what happens next.

  3. I like the look of the Beat Thang – it's very "Tron". It looks like they're taking the MPC idea and moving it forward.

    We'll have to see it when it comes out, though.

People said similar things about electrix products because they were colorful and a little tripped out but once they put their hands on them their tune changed….We collaborated with the Kangz to come up with the look that very much has their personality in it. Yes it's a little zany, has humor in it and is not uber minimalist but make no mistake about its quality and the knowledge and experience behind the Industrial Design team.
