epicVerb 1.5 Is More Epic, More Verb, But Windows Only

epicverb

New in the Free Windows Music Software department –  Variety of Sound has released epicVerb 1.5 – a major update to the free digital reverb that makes it even more epic.

epicVerb 1.5 contains not only some bugfixes and stability improvements but also re-worked algorithms which support “way more dense and three-dimensional reverberation processing.”

If you’ve used epicVerb 1.5, leave a comment with your thoughts!

Changes include:

  • stability improvements, especially for the memory issues that were causing crashes when deleting plugins in some host applications
  • improved reverb tail generation (affects faster density build up, diffusion and depth perception)
  • MOD knob does not disappear anymore when ctrl+click
  • plug-in does not write separate .dat file to disc anymore
  • faster loading times on systems with large amounts of system fonts
  • VST vendor tag changed to “Variety Of Sound”
  • SSE1 support is discontinued

The epicVerb 1.5 audio plug-in is a Win32 only release and requires a SSE2 (or higher) compatible system. It is tested and known to work in many VST compatible hosts.

  1. It gives a very interesting sound IMO.

I setup a liveset on Live 8 with a Keys-Analogue lead in the midi track to get a rather plain but full synth sound (its under Electric -> Experimental). Then I assigned epicVerb and my first impression was "ugh…". It was too metal like for my taste, the effect was interesting but… no.

Then I started playing with the dials a little, set the environment to reflex (I think the others sounded a bit too hollow) and then started dialing the knobs.. Well, this critter is staying in my plugin collection, it allows for some very interesting effects IMO. Its definitely worth playing with to see what more it might be able to do.
