  1. I dig it. It's minimal to the extreme, hypnotic, and in the film it will probably be used for only a limited time. I think it evokes the stark aesthetics of the film. It sounds like something one might listen to in Tron's world. Much better than all that orchestrated symphonic garbage filmmakers always turn to. I could go the rest of my life without ever hearing a John Williams or Howard Shore score again. Heck, I'm even sick of Danny Elfman's work in the film world.

  2. I'm sorry, but this f***ing sucks! If this is an example of what to expect from this source, then the producers/director need to find another.

  4. You guys are fools. It's obvious that if they are making music for a film, then it's gonna be nothing like Discovery or their previous work. I personally love the song, if it's fake or real. It has a good progressive feel to it and would be great to use in the film. I would be pissed if they had made something similar to a previous song.. because this is film music, not a studio album.

  5. This is no different, stylistically, than Discovery-era Daft Punk. That was almost a decade ago and I was charmed by the subtle Bach chord progression that comes in lateway during "Around the World", so I was hoping for more of that playfulness (and homage to Carlos) here. But sadly, it was repetitive (like Homework-era stuff, which I didn't enjoy as much) and didn't grow.

BTW, the poses of the Daft Punk robots on that cover art are reminiscent of the angular Transformers: Animated series.

I'd be quick to call this out as a fake, but then again, I thought Human After All was when leaked, too.

  7. I was hoping some innovation, some wicked formant sound.. at the end something different of what we have heard of the last decades. Agreed with the comments here, boring…

  8. Sounds like a first effort on Garageband. Not particularly interesting or creative, regardless of the weird archaic analog synths they may have thrown in there. I'm sure the liner notes will be far more compelling than the final product.

  12. IMO, the lead sound is the same of the alleged tron legacy theme (not the cryda luv one). That sound doesn't match that of the videos from comic con with the lightcycle reveal. Hence I call this as fake. Musically it's not much good but I still like it. In decent quality sound, the drums really have balls.

  16. Do the chords the start remind anyone else of Wendy Carlos's start to Clockwork Orange?

I'd be interested to hear what Carlos would do with the opportunity to do a soundtrack like this.

  18. It feels to me like they just got a copy of Reason and started fiddling with it. I love DP, but this track is below them, in terms of something you release to the public without visuals to back it up. I'm sure it would sit well with the right visuals, but in the soundtrack world, you really should have SOME dynamics to your musical track. This just has 3 layers, and they're not particularly interesting ones.

I would love to have seen them get Wendy to do some tracks as well, and then do some cutting-edge remixing on them. Best of both worlds.

  20. Nein!

this can't be DP, but if it is there must be reasons for them to sound like that
1: They lost their creativity to "la vida loca".
2: They are pulling someones leg.
3: The producers of the movie didn't want to pay them the right fee.
4: Their cat accidently uploaded a file they did when they were drunk.
and the list goes on…but no, this can't be the great Daft Punk as I know them.

  22. I know negativism is the accepted way to appear socially dominant in these parts but… I do like the minimalist work I'm hearing — whether it's by Daft Punk or not.

  25. Daft Punk is in Tron Legacy 2010 which is going to come out in December 17, 2010! Tron Legacy just had their Comic-Con and I went there. I bought both of the Daft Punk action figures! They are very expensive but it's worth it! Daft Punk is making the song for it and they are in it. They are as "MP3 Players". But I'm French too. I have seen their faces and they are HOT!!! But Thomas Bangalter is married to Elodie Bounchez; a French actress. AND THEY HAVE TWO SONS!
