New GridPad 10×8 Live Controller Lets You Break Free From The 4/4 Routine

Ableton-GridPad

Novolution has announced a new matrix MIDI controller for Ableton Live, the GridPad Ten x Eight, that promises to “let you break free from the 4/4 routine”.

The Ten x Eight, pronounced “ten X eight”, is unique in that it features a grid of eight rows with ten buttons, instead of the standard eight by eight layout.

“Not only does it let you break free from the 4/4 routine,” says Novolution CEO Fallacia Holiday,”the GridPad Ten x Eight gives you 25% more buttons than other controllers.”

The key benefit of the Ten x Eight is that it’s a natural fit for music in 5/4.

“When I was doing the Mission Impossible Techno Remix, I was constrained by the tools of the time, and I had to turn Lalo Schifrin’s classic theme into a disco dance track.” says early user Moby. “Now that Novolution has introduced the GridPad Ten x Eight, I’ll be able to realize my original vision for the song.”

Novolution has drawn up plans for additional controllers, according to the company’s CEO.

“We’d like to put out a larger GridPad Fourteen x Eight,” says Holiday. “Have you ever noticed that nobody’s ever remixed Pink Floyd’s Money? We’ve got the technology to fix that.”

Pricing and release date are TBA.

  1. I'm wondering if you could combine multiple GridPads sequentially to work for more complex time signatures and alternating time signatures?

Someone needs to consider the needs of the prog-rock community!
