Nord Lead 2 Synthesizer Review

This video, via GuitarGnosis, takes a look at the Nord Lead 2 synthesizer.

This is my analog (VA) go-to synth for the majority of my programming needs. This is a great synth to learn subtractive synthesis on due to the user-friendly layout of the front panel.

I may end up using a different synth in the end than this one, but you seriously can’t beat it for its simplicity.

This one sounds a bit more analog than the others I’ve heard, and I definitely like that.

  1. I'm not a fan of this guy and his "reviews". He takes an extremely long time to say anything even when it's simple, and both this and the M3 review start out proclaiming this is the only one you're gonna need. Listen, dude, stop trying to tell me what I need.

All I took away from this nearly eight and a half minute video is:
    * It doesn't have an effects section
    * I don't want to see any more "reviews" from this guy

  4. I love my Lead 2. I never fail to have fun playing with it. I will say this: though it can make some good basses as well as leads, but there are better VA's for basses. I think the fault is that the filter (flexible though it is) kind of lacks punch. Not bad, just not terrific. For pads, sync leads, staccato beeps, and various effects it's great. Passable bass, but it's not called the Nord Bass, now is it?

  6. Oh, dear god… worst video review EVER!

If it takes more than 2 and a half minutes before we even SEE the synth, YOU'RE DOING SOMETHING WRONG.

If all you do in that 2 and a half minutes is talk to the camera, YOU'RE DOING SOMETHING WRONG.

If you really love hearing yourself talk, go talk to yourself, because if you're doing it in what is supposed to be a synth review, YOU'RE DOING SOMETHING WRONG.

First rule of video is "show, don't tell". This could have just been a text article, and we could have skipped looking at that douche in love with the sound of his own voice…

  9. "wow luuk @ mee, I just learnt doo some crazy vidyo fx!" This is what video effect/editing by a guitar player looks like.

  10. NL2X: metal chassis built well & keys just perfect size 2 play.Do not rely on factory patches alone, some of them are very plain. Need to read the manual and tweak away using up to 4 sounds together to achieve some incredible results. All controls are laid out on front panel. No FX on board; be ready to record you performances & sequence them back in DAW with FX. Trance oriented; be ready to use midi commands sent form external sequencer to achieve the right bmp as 4 arp on board has no bmp display and the knob is way 2 sensitive. Great 4 leads, bass, drums & FX. 8.5 out of 10. Buy it.
