Reason 5’s Kong Drum Designer

This video, the latest in Propellerhead’s series of teasers for the new Reason 5 and Record 1.5, takes a look at the new Reason 5 Kong Drum Designer.

via PropellerheadSW:

Where do we begin? The Kong Drum Designer in Reason 5 is a powerhouse drum machine giving you virtually every type of drum sound generation around… analog synth generators, physical modeling, REX loops and slices, sample playback and live sampling. Throw some extra supporting tone generators on top of it and some effects specifically designed for beat production and you’ve got yourself one hell of an animal.

  1. At first I thought "meh…who needs a glorified ReDrum." But seeing the inclusion of actual drum synthesis, snare design AND a rex player…this could be a real competition to Battery or even a poor man's Stylus. Again…just another way in which Reason is a bang-for-your-buck miracle. We'll see…

  2. In one word. Absolutely AWESOME!!!! Oh, was that 2? Well anyway the Reason 5 – Kong Drum Designer is the reason I will be living. In my opinion The Reason drum machine systems is the very reason I left my akai mpc series drum machines behind to grow dust. The Redrum was the reason I was able to walk away and not feel any regret in leaving it behind. All I carried along with me was my 5 kit industry standard drum samples and I was good to go. In particular I liked the fact that Redrum allowed me to do various things such as “swing” “quantize” attack, gate, tweak, pitch, filter so on and so forth. So bottom line is I have a lot of trust in Propellerheads ability to recreate that emotional attachment I had and loved in my MPC. It’s like trading Ciara for Beyonce, or vice versa, they are both good and they both will do the job for me so no love lost.

Anyway the features that’s briefly covered in the Propellerhead Reason 5 – Kong Drum Designer send chills down my hip hop production beatmaking fleshly desires. They will seem to quench my thirst for true drum sound design. If you know me, and I’m sure you do or you certainly will, I love to tweak those drum samples man. This is the sole Reason I was able to walk away so easily.
Well word has it the Reason 5 – Kong Drum Designer has 16 cool pads, 1 sound per pad, 4 analog synthesizer drum generators, 3 modeling drum generators, sampler, Rex loop player, and it even looks beautiful. Analog kick, snare tom and hi hat? Then there’s a sampler with multi layering capabilities, this puppy has all the dreams of a modeling guru like myself and many other prolific producers in the game. Not to mention sound effects and etc.

I will be getting mine and tutorials will be flourishing, so keep up with it Fam. Keep checking back, I will be keeping you posted on this madness with the Reason 5 Kong Drum Designer.
