New Zoom Recorder R24 Combines Multi-Track Recorder, Audio Interface, Control Surface & Drum Pad Sampler

2010 Summer NAMM ShowZoom has announced the upcoming release of its new R24 recorder.

The digital recorder builds on the capabilities of Zoom’s older R16 model with the addition of a sampler/drum machine, 8 additional recording tracks and 6 channels of phantom power.

The R24 combines four production tools in one:

  • digital multi-track recorder with 24-track playback and 8-track simultaneous recording,
  • an audio interface,
  • a control surface
  • and a drum pad sampler.

The R24 records on SD memory cards and supports cards up to 32GB for over 100 track hours of recording. The flexibility of SD recording makes the R24 lighter and more reliable. In addition, the R24’s USB audio interface allows users to record tracks to any Mac or PC and utilize the system’s control surface capabilities to manage the functions of most DAW software programs, most notably Cubase LE 5, which is included with the recorder.

The Zoom R24 will be available July 7. Pricing is to be announced.

  1. I think this is something worth keeping an eye on…gonna wait for the price
to decide if I think it's worth it.

  2. I have never been able to get my R16 to work as controller for my Macbook. After 3 months of very light use I have one channel going out. I hope this thing is built of stronger stuff than the R16. I am quite sorry that I bought it.

  3. I am using the R16 in the school that I'm teaching in, and it works great as a mixer/recorder in a silent rehearsal studio with two guitars, bass, keyboard, digitaldrums and vocals plugged to it! The students seem to like it, and since there is effects in it, we dont even have to mess with external effect pedals!
