The Yamaha Electone EX1 Analog Organ/Synth – Proof That Gear Finds Are Out There

Remember the post earlier this week, 1989 Was The Best Year Ever To Buy Used Synthesizers, which explained why you should have stocked up on awesome synth gear 20 years ago?

Well, this video, of the impossibly rare the Yamaha Electone EX1 Analog Organ/Synth, is proof that there are still gear finds out there waiting for you:

This is one of only 10 ever made. Chuck rescued this from a church, they had already thrown out the other Speaker! Just stitting down to it for the first time and checking out all the settings on this beast, chuck shows me just a little of what it can do, will have a video tour of this beast when I have the time.

Got a gear find of your own? Leave a comment!

Loads of EX1's were made. I have one. The rare model was the more highly programmable GX1 as played by Keith Emerson, Abba, Led Zeppelin and Abba. The GX1/EX1 spun off the CS80/60/50 synths as played by everybody. Terry Riley played was the smaller Yamaha YC45D organ which was in no sense a synth, but did have a pitch bend strip and a double manual design.

  2. My former brother-in-law bought an Anvil case for $25 from a buddy. Inside was a mint MS-20. He asked me if I wanted it. I asked, “How much?”. He said “You can have it. I only wanted the case and that was in it. I have no use for it.” I gave him $25 and he was happy.
