Awesome MIDI Door Chime System

YouTube Preview Image

This is an electrically actuated twenty note door chime system, playing standard MIDI files.

The heart of the system is a HighlyLiquid MD24 MIDI decoder, driving 24 solenoid outputs.

The MIDI content was created on a cheap keyboard with MIDI output, and saved to a -modified- Yamaha MDF2 MIDI filer. When the doorbell button is pressed, it activates the MIDI filer and begins sending the MIDI data to the MD24 decoder. Content can be changed easily, based on interest and the season.

The 20 note chimes are vintage Deagan class M tubes. The nickel plated steel tubes were adapted to mount onto a Maas/Rowe actuator with integrated dampers.
