Polychord iPad Musical Instrument

Polychord (App Store link) is an $9.99 iPad musical instrument designed to be easy to play, in the tradition of the autoharp or OmniChord:

Polychord is drums, bass, chords, and accompaniment all wrapped into one. Simply press one of the chord circles and your on your way to writing a song. Drums and bass follow the chords automatically, but the coolest part is probably the strum keys on the right: simply swipe your finger over the yellow keys to strum a chord.

Unfortunately, the company doesn’t provide specs for the app.  WireToTheEar’s Oliver Chesler has a short review of it, though, saying “If they get this App working with Midi/external sounds it’s going to be drop dead essential.”

If you’ve used Polychord, leave a comment and let us know what you think of it!

  1. Sitting a bit board in the office today and decided to give this a go.

OMG, its quite inspired, but REALLY needs Midi out support. If you get that, you have a great tool here.

  2. It seems pretty clear that MIDI support is going to be a big deal for iPad apps. Developers would be smart to say what their plans are for adding MIDI support.

  3. There's a small annoying bug when you push one chord over another, then release the first, it cuts the two. Should it be fixed soon ? Btw midi would be great too !
