New CoreMIDI iPad Control Surface App, AC7-Core

iPad Music Software: AC7-Core is a new wireless control surface app for the iPad that uses CoreMIDI for “simple setup and reliable operation”.

There are dedicated modes for controlling:

  • Apple’s Logic
  • Pro Tools
  • MOTU’s Digital Performer
  • Cubase/Nuendo
  • Cakewalk Sonar
  • Reaper
  • Ableton Live
  • Propellerhead Reason/Record
  • Sony Vegas/Acid Pro
  • FruityLoops Studio
  • Presonus Studio One
  • Adobe Audition
  • Mackie Tracktion

Other software which supports the Mackie Control protocol will work with the “Generic Mode”

Works without additional server software on OS X “Tiger” and above. Also works on Windows XP, Vista, And 7 with free rtpMIDI driver.

AC-7 Core is available now in the app store for $4.99. Initial reviews are mixed – so if you try it, please leave a comment with your thoughts!

  1. i had problems getting my snow leopard mac to recognize it, i had to reset my network on the ipad, reenter my wifi password and then it worked fine, haven’t had any noticeable glitches works smoothly, great app.

  2. This app has been a huge disappointment. The interface is unresponsive and beware Reason/Record users it doesn't work with either, even though it says it does.

  3. Hi, my name is Nick. I had purchased the AC-7 Core for my studio. I run Logic Pro 8, and I installed everything correctly. My issue is that if a song I am working on had 20 tracks, I cannot view 1-8. Even if i press bank or the track arrows it does not go there. Let's say if the song has 4 tracks, it will still not show me the first tracks. AC-7 only shows me 9 and beyond. I need some help with this as I am working on many projects.

    Thanks,

    Nick

  4. Wow, lots of problesmonm MAC? I am running Abelton Live 8 on Win7 x64&, no issues like above. Works flawlessly once I read the rules. Does everything I want, no. But works.

  5. Anyone got any ideas on how to get AC-7 to automatically reconnect on a Mac when it is restarted? I didn't have any of the problems others had above getting it connected, including the iPhone version. But if I shutdown the application, the MIDI connection in Audio Setup is lost and I seem to have to reconnect from there every time. Would be nice if there was some way to save these connections.

  6. This is great app. It is very easy to install and get it goin’. It works like a charm in Pro Tools. AC-7 Core is worth every penny.
    Couple of suggestions:
    1) integration of a separate Master Fader in Pro Tools mode; master fader disappears, and appears in the group with the rest of the faders. It would be great to have master fader accessible all the time without scrolling, like it is a case with the rest of the modes.
    2) please extend digital peak meters range so it spreads along from the bottom to the top of the fader, instead starting from the middle to the top.

    Everything

  7. I’m note sure why this is called “core” because it doesn’t work correct with a wired connection. No track names are reported to the app, only wifi.

And to make matters worse support is at 0. No replies from email at all,
