New Music From David Lynch, ‘Good Day Today’

David Lynch has apparently gone electronic – and has released this track, Good Day Today, as a teaser for his upcoming album.

Check it out and leave a comment with your thoughts. Does this sound like what you’d expect from the guy that directed Eraserhead and Twin Peaks?

  1. Yep, I can definitely hear something I can describe only as a Lynchian feel to the chordal structure. The intro could have easily been in "Twin Peaks" or "Fire Walk With Me" aside from tempo and style.

  2. Can't stand the vocal effects. The backing track is bland and reminds me of musical subgenres best left to die. If I was to guess why he made this I'd say for money. I might be wrong, but if Mr Lynch really likes this music, I probably had a totally wrong conception of what this guy might like or ignore.

  3. Really? This is surprisingly tasteless. Maddeningly repetitive beat + Vocoder + Auto tune + 4 yr old lyrics + Gated Mellotron-ish (heard it a thousand times) synth line = Disappointment.

In the long list of things that get more refined over time, Mr Lynch's sound design skills and musical relevance are no where to be found.

  4. Jesus, you people. Do you think David Lynch has ever given a fuck what people like you think? He made it because he felt like it. Maybe if you made something of your own you'd be less on-edge and more comfortable with yourself.
