Musikmesse Rumor – The Korg Monotribe Analog Electribe

Korg MonotribeMusikmesse 2011 rumor: What would you do if you were Korg, and two of your hottest products in recent years were the Monotron and the Electribe?

If you think like me, you’d try cross-breeding them to see what happens.

And it looks like something like this may be in the works….

Korg recently registered the name Monotribe as a trademark for “multi-track rhythm and drum machines”. It was published for opposition yesterday, 3/29/2011.

We’d like to see the Korg Monotribe turn out to be Monotron-style synth with an Electribe-style sequencer – sort of a modern take on the classic Roland TB-303 bassline synthesizer. If they could to this at “Electribe sized” prices, it would be a monster hit.

At this time, though, the Korg Monotribe is just a rumor. A pretty cool rumor.

Discuss.

  1. cool, but this makes me think about many other ideas…
    what about the polytron?
    the monossilator?
    the microtron?
    the electribe mini?
    the microwavedrum?
    the kaosstron (analog kaoss pad)?

  2. Fun! I thinkk that the Kaosstron would have Touchscreen control of vacuum tube distortion.

The monotribe actually sounds like it could be cool. Let’s hope they deliver!

  3. Whatever they make, I hope it's small, affordable and has some unique character. They tend to be good at that, so odds are in our favor.

  4. As somone who just got his first Emx1 two weeks ago… damnit

Maybe they'll compliment each other somehow. Looking at what Korg has been doing with the Kaos line each product has its own niche and can either exist together or on their own. Hoping for a less of a drum machine and more of an analog synth that compliments the emx + esx. Oh, and with vacuum tubes of course. Would love to see the Arp ribbon / slider replaced with a kaos style touch pad though. Give me some nice x / y control

  5. It’s quite official.. Monotron+sequencer = Monotribe

will be presented at MusikMesse yay!!

    I’m really looking for a TB-303 made by Korg , can’t wait!!
