KORG SyncKontrol For Monotribe (Sneak Preview)

KORG SyncKontrol for Monotribe is an iOS app lets you dial in a tempo and output a sync signal to control the Monotribe.

The options for SyncKontrol look like they are pretty basic – but they’ll let you dial in a tempo, tap in a tempo and add swing.

Korg SyncKontrol also supports wireless syncing, demonstrated about a minute into the demo video above. This could make the Monotribe a lot more interesting, giving you a way to sync a relatively cheap analog synth to your desktop or iOS applications.

Based on what Korg SyncKontrol appears to be doing, it looks like you may also be able to use it to trigger other analog devices that can be triggered with audio, like the Sequential Circuits Pro One.

If any readers have more details on Korg SyncKontrol, please let us know.

What do you think of Korg SyncKontrol? Does it make the Monotribe a more interesting product to you?

  1. Or they coulda just added a phuckin MIDI port to the damn thing and saved us from downloading all of this crap to get that thing to the point where its even functionally useful

  2. You're very professional, and the comment sections of this website are always 100% filled with professionalism. The extreme perfection of your English and your understanding of punctuation and grammar knows no bounds. It is also a necessity to respond 'professionally' to terms like POS, ffs, and trashtalking. Absolutely.

  3. Fantastic!!
BTW, Limits are there to push against and generate creative solutions. I am looking forward to the modders getting inside this little beast and creating the new "Devilfish" Monotribe 😀

  4. I"m with you. It's easy to have a cup is half empty view of this, since it's limited.

Moroder did 'I Feel Love' with 8 steps, though……

  5. This is awesome, but I'm more excited about the possibilities with future korg products. I hope they cheaply license the software. I wonder how bluetooth deals with dropped data though. iElectribe works with coreMIDI … I wonder what they are doing with the windows(?) machine.

  6. What would you have used midi on it for anyway, other than syncing? I think this sync is more flexible than using midi.

For example, there is no way you could have easily synced the monotribe with an iphone using midi, without having extra equipment or some kind of server to pass along the sync.

There was a demo video a little while back which demonstrated how easy it was to use, and some other uses for it with some modular or semi modular gear which made it seem like the right choice for the device.

  7. FFS, look just track the over priced…and yes Korg it is overpriced! into your daw, thats what i do. There is no need for midi on this thing tbh, its esy to do a quick work around and if Korg was gonna charge more for midi im glad they didn't.

It is a fun and rude synth for sampling up and using, it isn't versatile enough to use any other way really.

Anyway i did a quick vid or the sync here.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLielmVP6Pg
