Sugar Bytes Turnado (First Look)

This is a first look at Sugar Bytes Turnado, a new multi-effects processor that is designed for live performance and sound mangling.

Turnado is designed to give you direct control of up to 8 different effects at any given time, with a total of 24 effects available. While Turnado is designed to be simple to use, with a one-knob-per-effect interface, you can ‘drill-down’ into the effects to customize them.

In this video preview of Turnado, sound designer Richard Devine reviews Turnado’s capabilities, trying out the presets with a drum loop.

Turnado is available now, and retails for 179$, or 139€. A demo version is available.

  1. At this point I know how to fuck things up. Getting tired of buying stuff to destroy stuff, I need software that helps me write a song.

    Maybe I’m getting old 🙂

    1. I think that there is something new here and in Stutter Edit that is different than traditional audio effects that people are missing.

These apps aren't just about 'fucking things up', they are designed to let you do it interactively, in time and in a musical way. This is like using effects as a modular synthesizer that let's you morph between patches.

Try doing anything in this demo with 20 different effects, in real time.

Well that software is already made, its called Reaper. I hope your not looking for a Robot that will write it for you. There is also this SongFrame http://www.tanageraudioworks.com/Products/SongFra… but I haven't tried it to tell you if its any good.

This plug-in looks good to me, I will load it next to my copy of the new isotope plug-in. Yes I know how to destroy audio on my own but it's also nice to save that hard to find creative time and employ shortcuts on the destruction process as opposed to using shortcuts on the all important writing of the actual music.

Whats up with all the trolls on Synthtopia lately maybe analog equipment melts the tolerance braincell centers on all you cynical bastards. If its not for you don't buy it, I for one am just glad that someone takes the time to build new tools, and I bet they don't make much as it will be hacked two days after its release.

  8. it seems very interesting… ive seen a tutorial on how to send each chanel from traktor to ableton.. so we can use it's effects… i haven't done it yet but i will try it to see how these effects work with it… 😀

  9. Coming from someone who just spent countless hours configuring an Ableton Live set with effects to "fuck shit up" for live performance using dbglitch and bitcrusher etc. This looks like a great product to serve that function.
Obviously I should of held out longer but judging from the demo I've managed to "fuck things up" substantially more what turnado can. Although had I spent that same time with turnado I could probably no doubt get similar results.
