A Tribute To Jean Michel Jarre, Kebu’s Pulsar

Sunday Synth Jam: Reader Sebastian Teir, aka Kebu, sends word about his latest synth jam video, Pulsar, which is a tribute to Jean Michel Jarre:

I composed the tune already in 2008 and the tune is a tribute to one of my biggest influences, Jean Michel Jarre.

Only analog synthesizer were used in recording the tune. The tune was also recorded by analog gear only and mixed with an analog mixer. The tune is from Kebu’s upcoming debut album, which is planned to be released in 2012.

Teir is working on recording a new album. Based on this, it looks like it will be a treat for fans of classic synth music.

Technical details below.

Equipment used: Hohner String Performer, Roland Alpha Juno, Roland Juno 60, Korg Mono/Poly, Korg Poly-61, Moog Prodigy, Logan String Melody, Arp Axxe, Touched by Sound DRM1, Vermona DRM1 MkIII, Roland TR-808 (snare attack only), Electro Harmonix Small Stone, Lexicon MPX500, Allen&Heath GS1, Yamaha MT4x.. Cubase & Live only used as MIDI sequencers with the tape sync handled by a Roland TR-626.

  1. Love the track, though the semi-phoney live performance bugs me. Love the effort put in though. Very Jarre in sound and performance.

  2. Heard a couple of the tracks now – they seem to start with lead lines that need to be stronger then the track builds – start with the good stuff to keep people hooked.

I disagree stay with the T and Jeans 😉

  3. Some times having lots of money to buy a nice synth rigout just isnt enough if your music does not have that extra NEW dimmention to it that makes it special and better than everyone else’s who are all jean michel jarre wannabies,” which there seems to be so many of these days”. Unfortunatly your’s does not have any edge over the competition especialy if your thinking of doing an Album and trust me i have seen and heard so so so so many. Before you invest money into an Album you should check out Arnaud Van Beek, he has a track called the ultimate synthesizer on iTunes, he is another Jarre wannabie but his own take at this style of music has that extra New take that people take notice of that separates his music away from yours. He and at least 8 more jarre wannabies i have seen and heard are your competition in this field so i would realy have a good long chat with myself before investing in an album of this style of jarre copying. Nice Beard though!!

  4. Kebu, this is……..inspirational, uplifting, exhilarating, mood elevating, heart pumping, blood coursing, spine tingling, muscle toning, pupil dilating…..I want it in my collection, NOW!!! where can I buy please!!!

  5. Awesome to see live synth action like this and I enjoy the mix of old and new in the music.

The only thing that would make it better would be if you got some mates to handle some of the parts, so there’d be more playing and less sequencing!
