New Synth, kHs ONE, Doesn’t Require a PhD In Synthesis

kiloHearts kHs ONE

‘Flaming hot digital foundry’ kiloHearts has introduced kHs ONE, a software synthesizer for Windows and Mac that they describe as an affordable, easy to use bread-and-butter virtual analog synth:

Look at all those knobs and sliders!

What are you waiting for? They aren’t going to tweak themselves. Unless you automate them. Which you can do. All of them.

At kiloHearts we believe that the system requirements for a virtual instrument shouldn’t include a PhD in Synthesis. Getting to the sound you want should just be a matter of thinking what you want to do, and do it. Therefore kHs ONE is designed to put all its features at your fingertips. Download the demo and try it out for yourself!

kHs ONE is available as VST and AudioUnit plugins, compatible with Cubase, Sonar, Logic Pro, Gargeband, Ableton Live, FL Studio, Reaper, Studio One and other apps. Both 32 bit and 64 bit versions are available on MacOS X and Windows operating systems.

You can preview kHs ONE below:

kHs ONE is available now for $49 USD/ €39 EUR (regularly $119 USD/ €99 EUR).

  1. "Look at all those knobs and sliders!"

I like how the most common feature on nearly any virtual synth is the selling point here. They arent even real knobs and sliders. Relax.

That being said, it does sound nice. You should use that as a selling point instead.

  2. Not enough knobs to market it as knobtastic synth. Looks and sounds just like the rest of the millions of other normtastic softsynths, that bores me to death.

Start making modular synths like Nord Modular, or at least use distinctive sounding algorithms.

  3. As another poster mentioned; sounds pretty substandard. And "knobs and sliders" do not make good music or sound. With a regular price of E 99,- I think people who are considering a purchase should look into Absynth 5 instead. Yes, it'll cost you more (you'll need an extra E 80,-) but in the longer run you'll also get much more out of it.

"Easy to use" and "Bread and butter" is fine. But don't forget that you'll very likely reach a point where you want to move on. Then what? Cough up another E 99,- for yet another synth or simply get something which allows you to expand as time goes by ?

  4. Jesus! I didn't notice, that it costs good money!

There are a TON of FREE soft synths, that are more interesting than this!

  5. Yes, the synth plugin market is oversaturated. Either you come up with something really new and exciting, which is very hard today, or you just provoke some yawning.

  6. Some guys are doing this lately. I used to patch for the Nord Modular quite a bit back in the day, and I've recently discovered Aalto and u-He Ace, which kind of fill that void for me. For the first time in a while, I'm finding myself really enjoying using softsynths.

Neither necessarily have the breadth of the Nord when it comes to patching possibilities and types of modules, but the spirit is there. And the algorithms are pretty distinct/fantastic sounding for both. Especially the Aalto – which actually has a slightly unique variance for each user, evidently.

If you are going to spend $100 on a synth plugin, one of those two are the way to go, for sure.

  7. But what if you *do* have a PhD in Synthesis?? (Well, EE including signal processing, computer music, etc..)

I guess I'll have to write my own plug-in. ;-(

  8. Actually, that was just meant to be funny, but I guess we failed. 😀 Anywhoo, since it's apparantly prone to misfire, we've updated the text now on the site to be more clear with what we really want as the selling point. 🙂 http://kilohearts.com

  14. I purchased this synth yesterday whilst also owning absynth, massive, etc, etc, etc. I love this synth and highly recommend a purchase. It has a far more authentic analogue sound than most out there, and thats what attracted me to it. What more could you want? Ease of use, not millions of controls, but a beautifl authentic sound

    Well done

    Steve
