Native Instruments has introduced Maschine Mikro, an entry-level version of its Maschine groove production workstation.
Maschine Mikro is based on a portable controller that provides hands-on control of the central Maschine features, at two-thirds of the size and weight of the full-sized hardware. Utilizing a single display and a dynamically assigned encoder to enable its compact footprint, the bus-powered Mikro controller retains the full-sized 4×4 matrix of pressure-sensitive, dynamically backlit Maschine drum pads.

Maschine Mikro includes the full-featured Maschine software with its pattern-based live and step sequencing, VST and AU plug-in hosting, real-time audio recording, sample editing and advanced multi-effects. The Mikro version also contains the full 6 GB Maschine sound library, as well as the free Komplete Elements sound collection.
With the new 1.7 software version of Maschine, both Maschine and Maschine Mikro now also benefit from advanced integration with Komplete 8 and Komplete 8 Ultimate, providing advanced sound browsing and parameter mapping for all instruments and effects contained in the bundle.
Maschine Mikro is expected to be available in October for US $399 or 349 EUR.

Agreed – if anything, it’s going to cost you more – by the time you’ve figured out what you’re missing with this mini-controller, you’ll want the full-sized one!

anyway, it uses the full software? wow, shocked they did that. that sounds like eomething theyll backpedal on later, like taking out vst/au support at least. For 400$ im buying it for sure. its awesome.

I don’t get…
1) Why NI would give the full software with a crippled controller (it’s missing loads of controls and a second screen. For the price difference, go with the full-version).
2) What the hell is controllerist about this video? Would you also consider someone playing a keyboard to be controllerism?
why do people not get the concept? what is better than enlarging your install base while keeping piracy way? a cheaper controller with a bit more menu diving than the knob laden original… no need for limited functionality (aside from lack of knobs) the more consumers alone is worth it to em…. I think it’s a very smart move.
