New Video Sequencer For iOS, MovBeats

It looks like a new class of mobile applications is emerging, focusing on the idea of video sequencing.

Earlier in the week, we introduced Smule’s MadPad, which lets you trigger video sequencers using an MPC-style grid.

Now developer Casual Underground has introduced MovBeats (App Store link), a new video sequencer for iOS.

MovBeats is designed as an entry-level tool for sequencing video. It lets you:

  • Record short clips with the iPhone camera.
  • Put the clips on the sequencer line to create video beats.
  • Play with the patterns and record a movie.
  • Share created movie with your friends on your favorite social networks.

It’s an entry-level app and, at $.99, is priced accordingly. We’d like to see something like this with features that would let you fit it into a music performance, like MIDI and HD video output – but MovBeats is a taste of what’s coming.

Features:

  • Live record from camera
  • Edit & trim clips
  • 192 slots for clips
  • 128 slots for patterns
  • 16 steps sequencer
  • Tempo correction, tap & cue
  • Record compositions on the fly
  • Export records to Youtube & Vimeo
  • Share records on Facebook, Twitter & Tumblr
