2012 NAMM Show: Moog Music has announced that they plan to introduce a new instrument at the January NAMM Show – and have also announced an Animoog contest that could let you win it.
Here are the details:
HOW TO ENTER:
1) Create and record a festive holiday song using Animoog.
2) Upload it to Soundcloud, or as a video on Youtube or Vimeo.
3) Post the link to the Moog Music Facebook wall by 11:59 PM Dec. 19, 2011 (EST) with the caption “2011 Animoog Holiday Song Entry”
4) Vote on entries by “liking” them on Facebook

5) The entry with the most Facebook “likes” by Dec. 20, 2011 will be featured in our holiday video, and the Entrant will WIN SOMETHING AWESOME. (like, the instrument we debut at NAMM 2012 awesome)

That’s funny, I did too! I wonder how many of us non-iPad users bought Animoog when it was dirt cheap in anticipation of the day we’ll have an iPad to go with it?
Who wouldn’t want a new Moog polymonsteranalogsynth they’re hopefully cooking up?
And Animoog is software awesomeness on the iPad and definitely capable of making beautiful tracks.
But is “likes” on Facebook a legitimate measure of quality of anything? ;-p
Yeah, spot on. I thought this contest sounded fun until I realized that it wasn’t being judged by anyone. Crowd-sourcing always guarantees you get the lowest common denominator. And since it’s through Facebook, all the losers get the added bonus of being signed up for a bucketload of advertising!
Not to keep the negativity rolling, because I truly love Animoog, but if they are “debuting” the instrument in January, and it’s “still in final prototype phase”, the lucky winner should expect to see their new Moog instrument sometime in the fall of 2012, right?
