At the 2012 NAMM Show, Leon Dewan was showing the Dewanatron Hymnatron Synthesizer. The Hymnotron is a just intonation tone organ that uses a binary key arrangement.

The Dewans create unique handcrafted ‘folk synthesizers’ that explore areas ignored by the mainstream music industry.

  1. They both fit in a sci fi scene where a “ceremony” is taking place inside a floating hyper cathedral orbiting around a neutron star… Give the dude a little bit of make up and a Boris Karloff lighting set, the music coming from that scene will take care of the rest.

  2. I don’t think he will be selling many of those things to churches with the amount of profanity spewing from his mouth.

A really cool machine though. I didn’t see the ‘ignition key’ that their other devices have though.

    1. Just for the fact that he was swearing I would buy one. Churches be damned, the world does not revolve around Christianity.
      Very interesting machine!
      Loads of bass.

  3. What amazed me was the consummate ease with which Leon Dewan plays the bizarre keyboard. And how he effortlessly teaches the interviewer how to conduct an interview. Why do all the useless interviewers (can’t introduce an interviewee, can’t ask a proper question, can’t point a mic in the right direction) congregate at NAMM?
