MIDI + Computer-Controlled Flamethrowers = FireHero 2

From the stupidtacular category comes Chris Marion’s FireHero 2 – the MIDI-controlled flamethrowing alternative to Guitar Hero:

FireHero can play with computer-sequenced precision to any guitar hero or rock band chart and any custom MIDI file.

This means that I can use the vast database of pre-charted songs built for the popular video game series to produce fire to music – beautifully, quickly, and easily.

You never know when you’re going to need a MIDI-controlled flamethrower, do you?

  1. This was a really hot performance and a real pleasure to see, no need to get all fired up with these ironic comments about it being stupid, but alas let the flame war begin.

  2. Stupidtacular? It’s such a fine line between stupid and clever.

A friend of mine built a pyrophone/calliope last year — a MIDI controlled instrument with either compressed air (calliope) or propane flowing through the pipes. She drafted me to write a morse code to MIDI program, so that it could play public service safety messages between music numbers. As far as I’m concerned, this sort of stuff is awesome.
