  1. I don’t have a juno 60 but do have a 106. This demo confirms to me that the juno 60 DOES sound better than the 106.

ps – That first chord and patch sounds like the opening to Freddy Mercury’s ‘Living on My Own’. 🙂

  2. Great great synth. I almost bought a Juno 60 but bought a JX-3P instead and it still gets used today! It provided the pad/side chained sound on this demo. http://soundcloud.com/soniklab/gameboyz-end-titles-music 🙂

The 80’s were a glorious time for synths, the small run custom synths coming out now though are exciting. But I’m still waiting to for the next synth that will have as huge impact as say when the DX7 came out! Come on synth manufacturers, large and small..push the boundaries!

  3. How does the Juno 60 compare to the Alpha Juno?

This sounds great and it seems to have a pretty similar architecture to the Juno.

    1. The Alpha Juno sounded more “digital” and had kind of a harsh edge. And I mean “harsh” in a bad way. 🙂 It sounded great, but I would never call it “lush”. The Alpha Juno is the only synth I ever regretted selling.

  4. I own a Juno 60. It’s my work horse. I bought it for 75 dollars a few years ago! Yes those crazy deals still exist! I love messing with the CV for arpeggios. Often times I think about downsizing, but I know this little guy will be with me forever! Or at least till someone who I feel deserves it comes along.

  5. The 60 is a bit cleaner than the 106. But i love the 106 look, and the Unison Mode on the 106 is a bit cooler, kind of steely and phasey, not detuned so much like the prophet. to get unison on the 60 you have to power up holding the poly mode keys, i think.

I don’t know how the MIDI implementation is on the 60, but its fantastic on the 106. I have two Juno-106 units. one for polyphony, and one for bass, simultaneously. I like them that much. Greg St Regis, of Analogia, used to rack them.

I don’t know why, but I kind of want a Juno 6. Something attractive about a lack of patch memory. Maybe its all the time I spend on early moogs and korgs and yamahas.

  6. I got to play around with one of these in a studio recently, I was extremely impressed, it has such a big sound and after a bit of fiddling I really felt I had a good idea of what It could to, very accessible with a bit of synth experience. It was so good I ended up paying it more attention than the Moog Rogue they had.
