Companies fill their synths with up with sounds (and everyone does this), so now you got thousands of presets! I never use any of the presets, I have my sort of stock templates to start a sound from, and I will just putz about until I find something I like. I never get anything done if I go and look for the preset, I am actually developing a piece of music if I make a sound.

That was beautiful! That might be my favorite Sunday Synth Jam. It sounded great, and it was fun to watch, too.

I watched this clip again I liked it so much. I’ve been thinking a lot about the thread “Jean-Benoît Dunckel (AIR) Meets The Arturia MiniBrute Analog Synthesizer” and watching this clip makes me laugh at the way I’m living in the past, thinking about digital synths vs analog synths, and I still wonder about acoustic guitars versus things like the Jupiter-80 with good guitar articulations but MEANWHILE amazing devices like the Novation Launchpad (and I guess amazing Tempest–I know it’s not a controller like the Launchpad, but it is button-based, like the Launchpad) let a musician put any kind of instrument any kind of sound under a button and just ignore the arguments and make cool music.
