New iPad App Emulates Roland PG-800 Synthesizer Programmer

Kentai has released iPG-800 – a MIDI Controller iPad app that emulates the functionality of the PG-800 Synthesizer Programmer that was built by Roland. It only works with a Roland JX-8P synth or a MKS-70, the rack version of the JX-8P.

iPG-800 is a CoreMIDI app and connects to CoreMIDI compatible MIDI-Interfaces and to wireless MIDI Network sessions.

See the Kentai site for details.

iPG-800 is $4.99 in the App Store.

  1. This is a very good idea for all those stuck without PG-800. I believe the MKS-70 is a rackmount version of the JX-10 synthesizer not the JX-8 as stated above. The MKS-70 combines two individual JX-8P synth engines.

  2. Sure beats using custom device panels in Cubase đŸ™‚ I’m sure a lot of people would welcome a PG1000 version for the D-50 and D-550. These really are great and I hope that eventually they continue making more for other manufacturers as well (Yamaha FS1R anyone?)

    1. Yeah, I’d even buy a virtual pg-10! The Roland d110 wouldn’t be a bad synth for the $30 or so they go for, if it wasn’t a nightmare to program.

  3. I’m glad I never got rid of my 8P and the PG-800…alwyas kept the two of them, a great pairing for a great analog synth…
