Gestural Control Of A Serge Modular Synthesizer With The Koma Kommander

This video, by Rastko Lazic, demonstrates using two Koma Elektronic Kommander infrared motion sensors as gestural controllers for a modular synthesizer.

The Kommander is a handheld dual infrared X-Y motion controller, designed to make ‘controlling your electronic instruments intuitive and fun’.

Technical details:

Recently I have acquired two Kommander`s from Koma Elektronic. The Kommander`s provide the Serge modular synth with gate and CV signals by tracking my hand movements.

This is very similar to the possibilities of the Theremin, but in a much smaller package.

The Kommander is priced at 59 Euro. More info on the Kommander can be found at the Koma site.

  1. Super cool. His gestures kinda resemble how Chris Cunningham might think of turning the music into a set of gestures…except this, I suppose, is the exact opposite process.
