Developers have announced that the Windows sampling application SampleRobot Pro will soon be available for Mac OS X:
With SampleRobot 4 Pro you can easily do automatic sampling of acoustic and electronic instruments. It does not matter what you would like to sample: orchestral instruments, choir, organs, electric guitars, ethnic percussion, adlips, sound scapes, noises, MIDI gear, virtual instruments, alpenhorns or whatever, SampleRobot makes your sampling as fast and as satisfying as possible. It samples all sound nuances automatically and creates high-end sampled instruments in various formats. Seamless integrated WaveRobot software finds perfect loop points even for whole multi-samples with different velocity layers during recording. $349?? OUCH! I use Redmatica’s Autosampler, which was far less expensive by over half. Since they are defunct as a separate company and Apple bought their assets, I’d suggest waiting for a while to see how that develops. The means to sample so readily is invaluable, but that high price makes this plug less appealing. Watch Apple tweak Autosampler, release it as a $50 app a la Mainstage and blow this thing away.
Yeah, totally. I expect to see this functionality built into the next versions of Logic and GarageBand for free.
They certainly make it sound like an awesome application…. but $350 for that ridiculous GUI? Yeah, no thanks, I’ll stick with Kontakt and Ableton’s Sampler.
